I am a staff writer at The New Yorker where I cover books and cultural trends. I was previously a critic at The New York Times Book Review. Before that, I was an academic. My dissertation was on chastity in the Russian novel.

In 2024, I received the Robert C. Silvers Prize for Literary Criticism. The judges described my style as “forceful.” In 2023, I received the Nona Balakian Citation for Excellence in Book Reviewing from the National Book Critics Circle. You can read my acceptance speech here.

My reporting, commentary, and criticism have appeared in The New York Review of Books, Harper’s, The Atlantic, Vulture, Bookforum, The Nation, The Paris Review, Frieze, Rest of World, Lux, and elsewhere. I have appeared on podcasts like Critics at Large (TNY), Time To Say Goodbye and the podcast of The New York Times Book Review.

I am represented by Caroline Eisenmann at the Francis Goldin Literary Agency. You can reach me at: jennifer [underscore] wilson [at] newyorker [dot] com
